We left Camp Nelson for a short stopover at Mammoth Lakes, before heading to Yosemite. It was rainy when we got there and even through our stay, the weather was overcast. I think it was the only section of the trip that we experienced bad weather because it was super hot almost on the other days.
So fun fact is that I actually enjoyed the road views more than at Mammoth Lakes itself because the weather took for a bad turn when we arrived(i.e summer rain). There were also a couple of small towns we drove pass, that I wished we had time to stop by to explore for a while.
However, I guess if weather is good, Mammoth Lakes is definitely beautiful when the sun it out. Also in winter, the snowy slopes should make a wonderful ski holiday there too!
So it rained quite heavily on arrival to Mammoth Lakes, so it was rather gloomy all around. It felt more like fall than summer actually. As there was no sun, the lakes looked really dull. Oh well. We went to a few lakes, including June Lake, Convict Lake(for sunrise), the Lakes Basin(which is a cluster of smaller lakes). The minaret vista was disappointing due to weather, so be sure to check out the weather prior to your trip up there!
